Death Cab for Cutie's - I Will Follow You Into the Dark

The name of this band totally trips me out, but I really like their stuff. Initially, I chose Soul Meets Body but I though it would be better to pick something newer.

So here is the updated current video pick: I Will Follow You Into the Dark

Enjoy and remember that if you don't enjoy it you have bad taste in music.

Here is their popular single Soul Meets Body too if you want to check it out too:

Korean Kids Are Crazy!!!

Okay, actually, they're no more crazy than any other kids I've worked with. I was a substitute teacher during law school.

However, they're tons of fun in terms of teaching. I think it's more so for me because I teach university students. When I work with kids it can be tiring and I frequently get injured (this year a scratched cornea and last year a tumble while teaching a rollerblading class). It's a welcome break from having to deal with young adults most of the time.

That leads me to my current video pick Crazy by Gnarls Barkley. It's another song that I was first exposed to while listening to Yahoo! Music. Cee-Lo Green’s voice reminds me of old school soul that my mother listened to which makes total sense as he was a member of the Goodie Mob which is a hip-hop group from Atlanta, Georgia, and Georgia where my family is from. The lyrics to the song are great. They’re a ton of fun to switch around and sing to the kids when they do something silly. All you need to do is turn on a falsetto, sing "crrrrrrrrrazy" and they'll fall out laughing. I even have some running up to me now and singing it without a prompt...

I don't think the song has made it to Korea yet, but when it does, they'll be the coolest kids around because they'll already know it.

So here it is...enjoy.

Leela James - This Woman Can Sing!

I discovered Leela James a few months ago. From what I've read Kanye West has been key in getting her to the mainstream. Great job, Kayne!

I love this woman because she takes me back to the time when singers were signed not only for their sex appeal, but because they could really sing. Also, I'm diggin' her hair.

It reminds me of my mother listening to good ol' fashioned rhythm and blues.

Plus, this song is right on point because she's asking where has the music gone? I'm so sick of hearing "bitch" and "ho" in lyrics these days, and Ms. James is right with me on that.

Also, she also does a cover of No Doubt's Don't Speak, and I love that song. No Doubt is a Southern California band, and I am loyal to my local bands.

So I'm going to put both videos in this post which is exactly what I wanted to do with the Jamie Cullum post below. Ya'll get two for one this time around, so sit back and enjoy! And, if you don't enjoy her you have bad taste in music.

Music videos on my Blog? This Stuff is Fun!

Now this this cool! I found a site where you can upload videos to your blog. Be careful though, the HTML code is kind of buggy. You'll have to fine tune the code a bit. My first attempt at this completely screwed up my blog's template. But, oh hot digity dog, I figured it out...!

Now I know it can be incredibly annoying when you go to some cheesy website that has unicorns, angels and crap music. However, I promise to try to avoid the unicorns and angels. However, it will be up to you to determine if the music in the video is crap or not. The good thing is unlike those annoying sites that have that crap music looping over and over, you can turn this off. It's Windows Media, so just hit the button with the little square if you don't want to hear it.

They'll just be songs that I like whether they're new or something older.

-----

Yes, I know I can just update posts, but this is more of a progression worthy of keeping the original post. I found a better video site which lets you choose whether you want the video to start or not. I think that's a good thing for readers of this blog. If they want to see it, they turn it on. If they want to just read, then they do that. I'm all about choice. Plus, I know that what I like you might loathe, and, yes, that means that you have bad taste in music! Also, that means I don't have to update just this one post. Instead I can add new video posts as the mood strikes. Nice...very, very nice.

So back up is Amerie's 1 Thing from the movie Hitch which really sucked, but the song is quite good.

There seems to be an issue depending on which browser you use. If you use Internet Explorer, you can choose to start the video. If you use Netscape, it just starts for you. I use Netscape, so that's a bit annoying.
