Music Shopping: "As I Am" by Alicia Keys

My copy of "As I Am" while waiting in line to be rung up at Hot Tracks in Kyobo Bookstore, Gwanghwamun, Seoul.

I usually don't blog my music purchases here. I blog that on MySpace. However, I'm so excited about this one!

As I wrote last week, Alicia Keys' new CD was set to drop on the 12th. The 12th back home is the 13th here. I also caught her Good Morning America performance on TV this morning, so I was inspired by the music PR machine to run to Hot Tracks to buy the CD before my Wednesday evening dance class. While I was there I also picked up my fountain pen that I'd sent in to be repaired.

Right now I'm ripping "As I Am" to my PDA and I'm listening to it. So far, so damn good.

I just had to share 'cause I'm a geek. Okay, it's past my bedtime. G'night.

  1. I didn't know AK had a new album dropping. I'll definitely pick it up, right after I grab Jill Scott's new one. There's probably a handfull of artists I'll buy the cd instead of download. Those two ladies are definitley on that list.

  2. :)

Well, I'm glad that I've helped out Alicia's record company with one more sale.

I just buy because it's easier for me to rip tracks from the CDs I buy and, I admit, I buy too many. The online formats lock down what kind of portable player you can use and that sucks.

  4. I completely agree!

I have much love for all three of them.

I think Corrine Bailey Rae will join them. However, as she just has her debut album and a live one, we'll have to wait for number two to verify that ;)

  5. Corrine! She has that awesome throwback appeal. I love her. If you haven't already also check out amel larrieux, goapele, lina, les nubians(oh that so rock), and van hunt just to give the fellas some love too. :-)

  6. I've heard of all of them but I haven't gotten into them all. I think it's just an issue of priorities. However, Goapele is from the Bay Area, so, of course I know her.
